Ministers Musings

Many of us were, to say the least, surprised by the EU referendum result. I was, and to be honest I was extremely disappointed. I was not surprised to learn that after the result many people who had voted 'out' did not realise what they had actually done and desired to be able to change their vote. In life there are of course times when once a decision is made there is no going back and there is that old saying 'you've made your bed so you will have to lie on it'. It would seem at this stage that the bed has been made and we will have to lie on it. However when driving back from England the other day I was listening to a song on the radio and its words were something like this: 'One little drop of rain doesn't make a hurricane'. I hadn't heard that song for ages. And there is a lot of truth in those words. We have to live one day at a time. Jesus taught us not to worry about tomorrow because tomorrow will take care of itself. In other words, we have to live for today, get on with the job in hand today and make the best of each day that we have. So may we get on with the business in hand today and as events and the future unfolds before us may we pray that those who hold the reins of power will be wise and careful in all they do and say. God is with us always, seek his peace in your heart, his peace will steady you and guide you. One drop of rain does not necessarily mean there is going to be a hurricane!
